KSU Artists
Curator Rachel Mara is working in collaboration with Robert Sherer from Art Career Mentoring Services (ACMS) at Kennesaw State University to feature up-and-coming artists from KSU. This annual spring show consists of various 2D works of fine art, from paintings and prints to lace-sewn canvas and embroidered photography.
The elegantly eerie artworks this year reflect feelings of uncertainty and uneasiness currently creeping through the collective consciousness. Dark intricate pieces delineate cultural inequality of the feminine while expressing its hidden power.
Gabriela Landaverde’s moon-faced goddess in Moonlight clutches her cloak amongst the trees and appears guarded, as if she was having a moment the viewer should not be privy to.
The body of a woman with the head of a mime doll in Megan Reatiga Parrish’s serigraph I am Afraid of Americans touches on acts of feminine suppression and the commodification of the body.
This exhibit is on display in our Gallery from May 4th – Jun 29th.
Opening reception Sunday, May 4th from 4PM – 5:30PM. Come enjoy art and light refreshments. This will be your only chance to meet the artists! The last day of exhibition will be Sunday, June 29th.
