Mugwort Tea Ceremony

April 27 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

$22

With Sarah Shamaya and Nastassia Johnson

Mother Mugwort cordially invites the Wives of the Waters to sip upon her otherworldly depths and remember their own. Do you have a magical relationship with the Waters of the Earth? Can you sense their opening into another dimension, and have you longed to journey there, in reverie, in grief, in search of elven beauty, or long-lost pleasure? Then you may very well be a Water Wife. You’ve heard of such inter-dimensional women in legend and lore: the lady of the lake, the selkie, the well-maiden, and the mermaid. They are the ones who hold open the passage from this world to the “other,” bringing gifts and treasures from the deep up to the manmade, mundane surface realities.

In both European and Asian lore, the mermaids gifted Mugwort to protect the humans. What if we are the mermaids? What gifts could we bring? Water has long been a partner to the Womb, and Wifery has long been the tie that binds nations, families, and in the deeper lore, dimensional realms. Mother Mugwort is not necessarily calling in present-day wives in a legal marriage contract, but rather the Wives of the Waters, those magical women who feel a devotional wedlock within their body and psyche to the watery realms, the lunar depths, the soft underbelly that the muggle reality denies, diminishes, and (secretly) feasts upon.

If you feel an affinity to The Waters, this is your invitation to gather together in our Feminine Magic ritual, sip upon the oldest of herbs, and reconnect to your inter-dimensional powers.

The Ceremony Includes:

A shared group altar
A brief introduction to Mugwort
A serving of Mugwort Tea
Singing an invocation together
A group meditational journey
Brief discussion and/or journaling
An invite to the Wives of the Waters Series

Suggested Items for Participants to Bring:

  • A talisman that weds you to the Waters
  • Your Siren Voice
  • Your own favorite tea cup and saucer (If you don’t have one, a paper cup will be provided.)
  • A journal and a pen
  • Cushion/Blanket/Yoga Mat. (Chairs will be available if your outfit or your body calls for one.)
  • A bottle of water to stay hydrated
  • Invitation to wear something green – Magical attire welcome!

Mother Mugwort is shining her vibrant viriditas on the open waters, offering her cup of Mermaid Magic to those liminal ladies who swim between the deeper, lunar layers of Otherworld and the stilted surface of manmade systems – those brides of quantum magic who are destined to bring rare and powerful treasures into their mundane worlds.

**Pregnancy Warning** Pregnant women or women trying to conceive should not ingest Mugwort; however, they can still psychically take in the energetics of Mother Mugwort during the Tea Ceremony.

Notice: Photos will be taken during the Ceremony and Participants will be asked to sign a Photo Release Form at the beginning.

Sarah Shamaya is a merewyf and forest mystic who graduated from Oglethorpe University with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature. Delving into lineage, embodied ritual, biomantic practices, and the magic of story, Sarah is here to reimagine reality by restoring the passageway between this realm and the “other” so that women can openly (and gainfully) commune with the greater powers of the Earth and her Waters.
